heat shield removal

heat shield removal

the heat shield that goes over the over-axel pipe is rattleing against the underside of the car. Is it ok to remove this?

Well I don't know if anybody on the board has remove there and have good inputs. But it's design to protect your fuel tank from heat build up from the exhaust pipe.

My duals dump before the axle so the exhaust doesn't go near the gas tank anymore. when I dropped the tank for a fuel pump swap I took it off and don't intend to put it back on.

I removed all of my heat shielding when I did my exhaust system. No biggie, haven't had a problem yet. That was in March of 02.

im not talking about the heat shield that protects the tank, im talking about the small one that goes over teh overaxel.

That's what I'm talking about. I removed ALL of them. The over axle one, the under tank one, the over cat one.
