Re: Headlight motors going bad?

Is it one or both?
You say they don't "come on" -but is it that they don't light, or just that they don't raise?
Do they close OK?
Do they make any grinding sound?

If they don't light, just check the plug connections. Unplug them if needed and look for corrosion.

If there is no grinding noises and if they are simply not opening, you might want to try doing something like this headlight opening fix. With a little bit of tape, you can test this out to see if it helps, and then make the "big purchase" of tubing for less than $1.

If you do have grinding, and or the headlights come up at strange times, then carefully read through this, from Brent's site. Be sure to go all the way down to the "FREE Headlight Fix" portion, if you'd just like to have a go at a "trial" fix.

Yep, them getting "jammed" in place is another common Firebird headlight problem (need to update my page with a bunch more info I've gathered. LOL!). If you can, you might want to try a little thicker and more "spongey" tubing. It will stop the light sooner and provide more dampening for when the light closes.
