Headlight issues

OK, I have 2 headlight issue and a question.

Issue #1: It used to be that when I had the foglights on but not the headlights, they would not pop up. Now if I switch the foglights (or parking lights) on but not the headlights, they pop up anyway but don't turn on until I turn the switch to headlights. It's been that way since the car was in the shop when the front end got clipped in a parking lot some time back. Do I need to check something in the wiring up front? I suck with electrical stuff, so if that's the case, I may need a step-by-step.

Issue#2: When I turn the headlights off and they go back down, the motors make a lot of noise like they are trying to continue going down for a few seconds after they are closed. I know the motors are good because they go up and down, but the noise bothers me. Do I need to open up the motors and switch the gears 180 degrees, or is there something else I should check?

Question: I didn't drive the car for a long time, and I guess I got spoiled by the ridiculously bright headlights on my car and motorcycle. Now my headlights seem a bit dull. Any suggestions on how to brighten them up a bit? I don't want blue lights, I just want them brighter. White light is OK, but blue headlights irritate me. Thoughts?

TIA.

No ideas on this one, guys? I'd start playing with stuff, but I suck at electricals, so I'd like to have some opinions first.

Re: Headlight issues

It sounds like the gear problem. Do a search for headlight fix.

OK, I'll give that a shot tonight. Who knows, maybe it'll fix both of my problems.

I know! I know! LOL!

#1) Directly related to the stripped gear mentioned in #2. Fix the stripped gear and they will go back to working properlyl.

#2) Gears are stripped. Try the free fix I have listed below. After a couple of cycles (if it no longer makes the terrible noise) the lights will no longer pop up with the fogs.

Free fix for you to try...

Re: Headlight issues

Thanks a ton, Brent! That's exactly what I was looking for. I'll take care of it this weekend.

No problem! If after the free fix it grinds on the way UP then you'll have to take apart the housing which holds the nylon gear and rotate the gear 90 degrees. That might get you an extra day, month, year ??? out of it

Good luck!
