Hard top or Convertible
Re: Hard top or Convertible
Convertibles are a couple hundred pounds heavier... But they're convertibles!
I think you just have to ask yourself what you want... If you're looking for a car specifically for racing, then I'd probably go with a hard top... If you just like having a really cool car to cruise around in, then it would depend on where you live and how much of the year you could drop the top.... I live in Florida and most of the year is good drop top weather... See sig for my decision...

Re: Hard top or Convertible
What do you want to do with the car? Personally I don't like convertables cause of the way they look and because I'd feel weird with eveyone being able to look at me that much. I'd prefer a t-top or hardtop. THe vert is heavier but performance can still be the same.
Re: Hard top or Convertible
If you want a race car...get the hardtop.
If you want a cruising car...get the convertible.
I have a t-top Firebird right now but im about to buy a Convertible WS6.

Re: Hard top or Convertible
I've owned 6 Camaros now. The one I have now is my favorite specifically because it is a convertible with a 6-speed. There is just nothing that compares to grabbing the gears with the top down while you listen to the sound of the exhaust screaming away.
I can't wait to get my Borla installed. Damn snow.
The only downside is the large blindspots while the top is up. The solution: don't ever put the top up!

Re: Hard top or Convertible
i sure do love my t-tops, however i would have to say that you go for the Vert. especially if you can get a deal on it as you say. as for it weighing more....sure it does a little, but nothing to really care about. my .02
Re: Hard top or Convertible
Been in both...liked both. Personally I would go with t-tops, though, because I live in PA. I have the convenience and comfort of a hard top, but I could still take the t-tops off and cruise whenever I want. Not as good as a vert, but it's the next best thing. I also happen to like the coupe better as far as looks, soo...
Re: Hard top or Convertible
im gonna vote t-top, my car is hardtop and the only reason i live with it is bc its 6 speed which was number one on my priority list, it was near impossible to find a 93 6pd with t-tops. also i really dont like the way convertibles look, unless of course its a hard top one.
Re: Hard top or Convertible
I will say the VERT obviously. I've owned both also. As far as t-tops go though, you have to always take them off, and put them on, and then talk about no trunk space for a vert. How about when the t-tops are off and in the trunk. No space there. Like mentioned, theres nothing like riding around in the summer top down. Oh, and I drive mine in the winter also when there's not feet of snow on the ground and heat is not a problem at all, so that theory is wrong. What's easier than sitting in the seat, unlatching the latches and hitting the button to put the top down? Surely not t-tops.
