Guys who've removed their A/C, come on in...
Really the only question I have about this is...do you regret doing it? My concern about removing the A/C, (whether it's valid remains to be seen), is all about social niceties, I guess.
For the ones who have removed their A/C, have you found that your friends tend to avoid riding around with you because your car's too hot? Do your wives/girlfriends complain about it?

Re: Guys who've removed their A/C, come on in...
I haven't removed mine but when I switched out motors last March I never got around to recharging it. Well it wasn't that bad this summer. I thought about it a few times but it was already August before I really cared and the heat was alomost over. I didn't really have anybody complain about it. So when I rebuild my other motor and put it back in, the ac will be history.

I bought the car and the A/C needed recharged. I never got around to it and I survived fine.
Windows down + 120mph = better than A/C
j/k
I would like to know though, if you remove A/C, can you still use the Vent function? All I need is heat and vent.

Re: Guys who've removed their A/C, come on in...
I removed my A/C compressor because it wouldn't hold a charge and the pulley was sqeaking really bad, so I bought a 1LE pulley. Im in Florida, and I was hurting only when it was raining, I always drive with my windows down, so it didn't really matter to me. If I ever sell it, I will put the A/C compressor back on.
Re: Guys who've removed their A/C, come on in...
I removed the entire HVAC system. AC, heat, ducting, I have a delete plate where the controls used to be.
I don,t regret it one bit, it gave me a ton of room to work and its alot cleaner looking under the hood.
I have the luxury of it sitting in the garage when its raining or cold or I just don,t feel like driving it. It is NOT my daily driver nor do I need it for transportation at all.
I do agree with blkchevyz. If your really debating it in your mind so much that you need others to tell you its OK then just leave it be.
Its a hardcore move so really think about what you want out of the car.

I appreciate your feedback.
This is EXACTLY why I wanna do this. It's hardcore. "Musclecar" and "creature comfort" don't belong on the same planet together. But while I'm totally down with this line of reasoning I also realize that alot of other people aren't, and that's why I'm asking about this. The lack of comfort isn't my concern, it's the idea that once I take this step and remove it, if I can look forward to riding solo from here on out.
By asking about other people's experiences, I'm trying to determine if this is something that I should even be concerned about...

I am also debating this, 30lbs and alot more room would be nice. But dont I want my G/F getting pissed...most of us know its not worth it.

I also deleted the whole HVAC system and I've liked it so far. Just don't get caught in the rain. Also if you are going to delete the AC and don't drive your car during the winter months delete the whole system.
Getting the dash was kind of tough for the first time but me and a friend had it back in within an hour(including all other interior pieces you have to take out.
Here is a thread with some pictures of my HVAC delete(it looks like more of a mess than it really is).http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ht=HVAC+delete

I've had mine deleted since the beginning of the summer, and we had a hot summer. I didn't mind one bit, and no one else did either. Some who don't understand why will ask you why you did it, but no complaints. If people can't appreciate riding in a nice car, then GET OUT! lol.
I didn't however remove the firewall part. Does doing that delete the heat and defrost too?

Re: Guys who've removed their A/C, come on in...
i want to do this mod also. i have disconnected all the lines. just didn't take the compressor or anything else off like the pulley delete. i'm kinda nervous, lets say one night in the late summer it is like 60-55 outside and my windows fog up. i will have no fan vent anymore so i won't have any defrost. i rarely drive my car. i'm kinda scared also to take the dash apart with all the wires under there- lol.
Re: Guys who've removed their A/C, come on in...
I removed my entire A/C and left my heat. I had to have heat to pass inpection becasue the guy said defrost had to be operational.
I'm sure there are ways around that too.
If you're looking for weight removal, and gains in your ets, then, by all means, go for it. Do like I did and remove your power steering too. Go manual rack and by the alternator relocation bracket. Easy weight removal and good et gains.
