grinding noise from the back of car?

I was driving around last night and i noticed a (metallic?) grinding noise coming from the back of the car. I could only hear it when i accelerate from 1000 to 3000 rpm (or anywhere between the 2 figures) and then i'd hear it up until i stopped. so i was thinkin somethin was hung up somewhere. Then after a little bit of trying to figure it out i went out again and it did it when i was at a stop. Would this be a fuel pump?

Any grinding sound i ever heard comming from the back of the car had something to do with the brakes. if the fuel pump was going bad you would notice strong loss of power even the thing even starts.

A guess sounds like brakes , no way a fuel pump makes a grinding noise

If it made the noise while the vehicle was at a stop, I wouldn't think it was the brakes or the rear end.

Could be a u-joint going bad. The disc brakes are not adjustable. You might need to change the differential oil and LSD additive.

Rudedog:
got under the car yesterday and checked the driveshaft. the U joints dont seem to look worn or have any play in them.

I jacked up the rear end again today also and i turned the tires by hand for a while to see if i could get it to make that noise but i got nothin, how hard should they turn in nuetral? it was almost a workout to turn them for a few minutes.
