got beat by an 06 GT?

I raced an 06 GT with a cat-back, headers and intake a couple of months ago and got beat by a car and a half or so. It was from a 20 punch. I had all mods listed below except the SFCs, LCA's/LCA relocation brackets, headers, plugs, and wires. My car is lowered with 4.10's and when I raced him i wheel hopped bad when i took off! Do you think that with the current mods i have installed I should be able to hang if not beat him? I think my major problem was that I was hopping and my car was running rich from exhaust leaks around my manifolds.

I think now you'd beat em, but those cars ARE pretty quick. I lost to one by about a car length as well, with headers/exhaust on my 94 vert Auto and his was stock Manual

I sure hope so, that was embarassing because it is a guy my g/f goes to school with and i always told her i would beat him and then i lost. I really underestimated that thing. I gotta fix my clutch first, then were gonna run em again. When i hit about 4k rpm, my whole car starts vibrating and its comin from the front of the tranny. I put a cheap autozone clutch in it and didnt resurface my flywheel and went and launched the car hard before i broke the clutch in, so i think i messed it up.

The !traction mod is the worst!! Once you can nail the launch, and having the additional power of the LT's, you should be at LEAST on par with, if not slightly ahead of the GT now .

Or you need an LS1?

The 2006 GTs came with the supercharger from the factory. Thats 260 horsepower right there from the factory. If he put on headers, catback, and a cold air intake, those are also great supporting mods for a smaller supercharger pulley that will up the boost. If you were having traction problems and the car is not running up to par, then he could easily give you a run for your money.

Do you make anywhere near 500hp and 480 lb/ft? The Shelby is aka the GT500 which is the SC 5.4L version.

No, the GT500 comes SC. The GT is an NA 4.6L. 300hp w/ 320lb/ft.

Yeah I was thinking about getting an LS1, but I would rather build my LT1 since so many people look down on them, I wanna show what they are capable of. I get asked all the time, "Why did you buy an LT1." I sure hope I can hang with him now. But it is a NA car, I checked out under the hood. Maybe I just need a 100 shot

Grand Prix GT is a naturally aspirated 3.8L V6. GTP was supercharged.
