GMMG I-Pipe Prob. - Pls Help

Hello,

I purchased a used GMMG exhaust over the weekend and I'm trying to install it on my LS1 'vert. I've run into the following problem: The I-pipe does not slide over the Y-pipe because the I-pipe is pinched where the band clamp was tightened during the last installation. I’ve tried to use a C-Clamp (in a reverse type of fashion) to widen the opening, but couldn’t get it deep enough to effect the pinch. Could an exhaust shop fix the pinch so the I-pipe will slide over the Y-pipe? How much would that cost?

On a side note, I noticed the I-pipe has a DYNOMAX sticker on it. Is it possible to purchase a replacement? Does the DYNOMAX I-pipe fit the GMMG exhaust without any modifications required?

Thanks for any replies!

An exhaust shop should have a machine to open that up. A local one opened a pipe for me for free.

you sure it's a true GMMG??

it should be stainless i think...and a dynomax pipe would be aluminized not SS.

you may have gotten suckered...depending on how much$$ you paid

The exhaust portion is a true GMMG (stainless steel). The I-Pipe section that goes from the Y-Pipe to the axel is the section that is messed up.

I've been told by the former exhaust owner that the part that is pinched is a DYNOMAX 3" I-Pipe.

Does anyone know if this would fit a stock y-pipe? Can I pick this up at a local store? (Note: I called Advance Auto Parts and the guy couldn't find it in the computer)

Thanks for any replies!
