They also charge incredible prices on shipping. 38$ for a cam? Get the **** out of here.

Re: GM Parts Direct Experiences???

Complaints about the shipping are what's ridiculous. It's not like they hide the shipping charges from you. Total cost is all that matters.

That said, I used GMPD once and won't do it again. I had read from other customers that if you have any problems with the order it is a major pain to get service. In particular I'd read that if you provide part numbers, and something turns out to be the wrong P/N they won't do anything for you.

In order to avoid this situation, I had them look up all the part numbers for me. In spite of this one of the P/N was wrong, and the part didn't match my car. Even though the problem was 100% on them they tried to tell me I couldn't return it. I did eventually get a refund but I had to argue a lot for it.

I also received one part that was broken in transit because they took all the GM parts, boxed or unboxed, and threw them in one large box with no additional packing. One of the fairly fragile unboxed items was broken. They made me file a claim with the shipper which was ridiculous since it was a packing problem not a shipping problem. Took a few months to get my money back on that part. That was a $10 part out of a $600-700 order. A company that gave a rats azz about customer service would have shipped me a new $10 part immediately.

Thankfully there is a local place that matches GM Parts Direct's pricing.

Usually I just have to wait a day or two.

I've ordered through them several times without problems. Turnaround time is a couple weeks to Texas. Haven't had a need to use their customer service, which I wonder about. (no phone numbers, etc)

I just ordered the A/C delete pulley from them. It arrived much faster than they said it would and was $20 cheaper than Summit Racing (which is generaly fairly cheap). My only beef is that the outer box was beat-up and had a lot of tape on it.

Re: GM Parts Direct Experiences???

As I have stated in other posts, I use them as a reference and print the page going to my local dealership... Usually they will match or come close to price....Plus no shipping charges....

But then again, I do have a good relationship with my local GM parts department...

Yea, I used them once. Shipping is high but it still was cheaper than buying at a local dealership. I just wanted to try them, I doubt I will use them again. It took too long to recieve and it also said that their is NO RETURNS on special order items. Says that special order items take longer too. I guess I got lucky and THEY didn't F'up on what I needed.

It took about 7 or 8 days for me get my order from them, but then again I am on the opposite side country from them. I thought the shipping was kind of slow but not too bad.

Re: GM Parts Direct Experiences???

I've been ordering from them for about 4 years now. They are 9 times out of 10 cheaper then anywhere else even after shipping so i can't complain about the prices. When i first started ordering form them, they were fairly quick, had my parts to me within a week. It seems they have really slowed down over the years though. A few times in the past year it has taken about three weeks for my parts to arrive. I understand they have to order the parts themselves, wait for them to arrive and send them out to me but there's no reason it should take so long. I only order from them when I'm not in any sort of rush to get what I need.

I had some trouble their customer service a few times but in the end they fixed the issue.
