I might be picking up a 97 z28 this week or next but I've kinda gotten behind on things. My last one I had about 4 years ago. One of the last things I got for it was a scanmaster and I loved it. Is this still a good thing to have or is there something better now?

I just installed one yesterday. Fred (Injuneer) has a website with an install guide as well as how to understand them. I like the fact that it tells you everything the pcm is reading. The only problem for me at the moment is comprehending all the different values it provides. I haven't gone through the write up Fred has provided though. His automotive theory base is generally well beyond my level of thinking but I'm sure it will help to clear up some of the unknown for the scanmaster.

 

I decided to pass on the camaro but I'm still looking around for one.

Yeah they do display a lot of info thats a bit overwhelming. I loved mine while I had it. I mounted it in the hvac vent like shown here http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/scanmaster.htm

So the scanmaster is still pretty much it?

 

Well ya-know they haven't changed the software.

 

Yeah I know but I was hoping something else had come along with maybe a bit better display.
