Everything. Nothing specific to the 95 that I can think of.

Good choice on the 95. OBD1 kicks ***!! Just make sure to check for anything that might seem to be an optispark miss or sputter. Is it a T-top, hard top, or vert??

If its an aftermarket clutch w/ more clamp force then chatter will be heard. If its an old beat up clutch with a bad disk chatter will be heard. Just rag on it and see if it slips, if it dont, its ok

Re: Getting a 95

95 is the best year ever. First year for vented opti, last year for OBD1 and single cat.

There aren't really any known problems specific to the 95's. Check for the basics- does it drive ok, steering tight, squeaks/rattles, t-top leaks, any oil leaks, etc.

As for the clutch, just check for clutch slip. Leave it in gear and give it some gas, if the tach jumps up without the car accelerating, it's slipping.

Even if the clutch is bad, replacing it isn't that big of a deal. Bleeding it, on the other hand, is a PITA.

I personally prefer OBD2 so I can diagnose a problem alot easier. 95 is definitly a good year though. Just check the whole car over like you would any other used car. Since it's almost 11 years old expect to find some minor things.

I maybe wrong but it looks like a hardtop car to me. At least it has some 97 wheels on it instead of the stock salad shooters. In my opinion 95 is probably one of the best years. I didn't know it when i bought mine but they have about the best of everything. I'd say a 95 is a must have if you live in an emissions state as it comes with the best parts from 96-97 yet allows you to have the easy to tune pcm and a better header option. If emissions isn't an issue a 97 is hard to beat.

You shouldn't have any need to scan the car unless it is throwing a code. If the SES light is not lit up, don't worry about it.

Re: Getting a 95

How many miles on the car?

I also have a '95. I have 120K on it. Check the following because these items failed on me between 100K and 120K:

Optispark toast; car spuddered in 4th, then 3rd, then 2nd, then backfired.

Transmission toast; didn't change gears 3 to 4, then 2 to 3. Engine revved but didn't accelerate(change gears).

Radiator clogged; overheated constantly due to cloggage...fans didn't go on because sensor didn't read the water.

Also, check all the fluids...make sure they aren't mixed with other fluids i.e. milkshake looking. If so, you may have a blown head gasket.

Re: Getting a 95

Stick your head under there and see if the water pump is leaking out of the weephole, if it is, your opti WILL die soon, as will your pump.
