Gas Gauge help.

Starting today when I filled my tank the gas gauge will not raise up past 3/4 of a tank. So is there any thing that could cause this problem besides the gauge being bad its self?

And if it is the gauge can it be replaced alone? Or will the whole gage cluster need to be replaced?

Re: Gas Gauge help.

I would guess that the sending unit or float could be screwed up before I would think it was the gauge

I am sure you could test the sending unit some how - but I don't know how one would go about doing that

I wouldn't be too worried about it though - as long as it works below 3/4's your still cool

Re: Gas Gauge help.

Yeah I was thinking it may be a float or sending unit maybe. Whatever it is I don't think its going to be fun trying to figure it out.

Yeah if it did work below 3/4 it wouldn't bother me to much but when I got gas today it was reading an 1/8 of a tank and it only took 8 gallons to fill up I knew something was wrong when I had only drove 140 miles and was almost on empty

So I am happy its not something worse like an engine problem.

Well if anyone else has any ideas or had this problem please post.
