Free Camaro Upgrades?

i just bought a 1999 Camaro SS. I dont have much cash left and i was wondering if there is anything I can do (no matter how little) to make my car go faster without spending any money, or at least not more than 75 dollars. I dont mind putting time into it. For example, can I lean out any air filters? Take anything out/cut anything from under the hood to cool the engine? I thought I read somewhere that by cutting a piece of the plastic hood scoop off (the bottom party maybe?), you can help cool off the engine faster. Thanks.

Re: Free Camaro Upgrades?

the throttle body bypass is a good one...do a search.

a good mod to do for free is to remove the air lid (above the filter) and use an exacto knife or a dremel cutting wheel to cut out all the small plastic fins inside of it. this will increase flow a good amount.

although for probably $75 you can buy a used air lid which will gain you more than the free mod. watch ebay or the "for sale forum"

you could always remove your muffler

Why not remove the ENTIRE exhaust and run open valves? then run open throttle body and cut the serp belt and run no accessories on 1 gallon of gas. 50 + horsepower

Re: Free Camaro Upgrades?

you check out the install university web site for information on how to the 'free mods' that are very popular with the f-body/ls1 crowd here:

http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm

Personally I haven't done any of them and probably won't ever either, but I did swap out my air box lid for an SLP piece - a noticable seat of pants difference - hard to say, definitely looks better than the stock piece and there's a whole lot more induction howl

kindda early in the AM...kindda tired still...

was that sarcasm?

cause removing the stock muffler is not a bad way to pick up a couple hp. i mean it works with a cutout...right?

I think removing the cat is more trouble than it's worth.
A cutout is a ghood idea, for cheap 'power' and a bit-o-noise.
Deff check out that install university site. They have buttload of free mod ideas.

Check this link out too.....
