as long as you keep the cats you'll keep a respectable sound level.

i say either the hooker or magnaflow

Ive heard a hooker on a thirdgen and it sounds awsome but i still love my Magnaflow the best. Cant beat the sound + stainless steel for the price.

not to mention the MF is about 2/3 straight pipe. or at least my setup was. there was a baffle just inside the muffler that directed 2/3rds of the exhaust out one tip without any muffling.

Re: Which for for flow and sound

Everyone asks about exhausts, and nobody ever recommends Corsa. I can't figure that out.

Corsa is expensive -- you'll pay $800-1000 for a catback (depending on which tips you choose). But:

1. It has a nice, mean-sounding-yet-quiet idle and sounds awesome higher in the rev range. Sound clips here.
2. The muffler flows exactly as well as a 3" straight pipe. Who needs a cutout?
3. It comes with a lifetime warranty and AWESOME customer service.
4. It's 100% stainless steel.
5. It's the only catback for ANY GM vehicle which GM actually approves and recommends.

Why settle for a catback thats only .25" larger than stock? I say mufflex or duals!!!

If you go duals, go out the back and run some decent mufflers and it won't be real loud or drone.

Re: Which for for flow and sound

well if we are willing to pay 800-1000 dollars for a cat-back i say f the corsa and get GMMG

why would i get a cut-out? it costs 60 dollars labor and shipping included and it makes your car sound like an amazing beast

but the muffler design for corsa is pretty cool...

GMMG can't touch Corsa for flow, and IMO doesn't sound any better.

If you're all about power, then yeah, a 4" Mufflex is tough to beat. Then again, a full 3" system is good for quite a lot of horsepower.

I would like to keep a sleeper sound/appearance. Nothing to loud and raspy. what about Dynomax? Do they make a good flowing system for the LS1?

I have a 3 inch hooker system on my cammed Z, and i love it. My friend has a Corsa on his 02 WS6, and i dont think it sounds super great, i think the hooker rumbles tons better, and i like the rumble.

Why pay 800-1000 for GMMG when there are chambered knock-offs that are just as good of quality for a lot less. (With only minor sounds difference). (Just picking at you man)...

I like Corsa. But if you want the rumble, it isn't the way to go probably.

Re: Which for for flow and sound

I'm with lil305gta. Really, my OEM SS muffler sounds pretty good to me, but if I could get something that flows better and doesn't increase the noise level I might do it. I like being able to hear my cd player when I'm cruizing down the interstate. I haven't seen anything where flow numbers and decibel levels are compared. That's what I'd like to see. If anyone has that please post it up.

True, Corsa doesn't really rumble at idle. It just has a little note of attitude at idle -- kinda hard to describe. Then when you get up in the revs, it's not raspy at all -- clean and powerful. Here's a sound clip (not mine).

In my M6, I can do 80mph in 6th (about 1800rpm) and you can't hear the exhaust at all -- it's quieter than the wind noise and road noise.
