Float switch in the fuel tank
Float switch in the fuel tank
Can someone tell me how this works? I am replacing a fuel pump on a 94 Z28 and I dont want to screw up the fuel gauge reading. From what I can see, there is no wire comming out of the fuel pump for the switch, only for the fuel, vapor, and power.
not sure how it works with the wires but i replaced mine and didnt mess it up.. the piece you take out of the gas tank is in a shape sorta like a sock u pull it up so far and you have to lean it a bit then pull rest the way its a pretty simple fix
i luckily had a whole new asembly that my uncle gave me to put on mine so i didnt have to wire a new pump up and what not..
just be carefull taking it out and u wont mess nothing up (its just a lil float thing it would be pretty hard to hurt if u just removed it carefully id say.

I think the way people mess up the fuel gauge reading is by hitting the float arm when removing or installing the pump. The float hangs on a rod that sticks out on the passenger side of the fuel pump assembly. When you're pulling it out, tilt it as you're removing it so it clears the tank opening.
