Fixing body Damage.. Got Questions? help!
Fixing body Damage.. Got Questions? help!
I'm looking for some link on fixxing body damaged since i just got into a wreck and don't really have a choice but to do it myself really. Any link would help.
Now my question is do you think my hood can be saved?
Pics (hood and rear)
Also do you think i should be able to pop out there rear? And what kind of tools will i need for the hood and the rear?
I think its called a stud gun?? Then you weld the stubs on there and take the hammer ( dont know the name) and try to pull it out.
Also need to know how to prep and when, how and with what to sand with.
Thanks,
Brian

your hood is dead. sorry man, the rear is all steel, might be able to be popped out or bondoed over and sand and repainted, the rear panels cannot be replaced without weldng ( know it suck). I have a hood off my 94 z28 its white but needs repainting, minor dent that can be fixed. Let me know if you'd like it, I'll let it go cheap as I have a different one now.

Yep the hood is toasted, but you should be able to save the back. If you are going to try this yourself alittle hint :Try to recreat the accident in reverse when pulling the dent. Start with the last part of the dent work around in a circle to the first part hit, don't try to start in the middle it won't work. You should be able to get most of if not all of the dent out this way,and not have to use much filler. Good Luck and sorry about your misfortune.

Thanks for the edvice. As of recreatting it in reverse i have no idea how it hit or WHAT it hit lol. ill just start from either side and work around it till it gets smaller.
Also with that dent it wont come ALL the way back out right? I heard to try to take the dent to atleast 1/8th an inch back to normal then fill it in from there. Btw what kind of tools do i need to attempt it?

Also remember that when the dent was made the edges came out as the center went in. The edges are probably raised from where they used to me, so when u pull out the center ya have to pound the edges in.
At least thats what I was told in shop class
