Few problems... all related? (just got car rebuilt)
ok, well i got my ride back 2 weeks ago after a loong wait...
well i keep thinking its fixed, then later that day or next day it messes up again! i brought it to the shop today after not starting, well they fixed it. but later that night (ran fine when i got out before) doesnt start... tries, then falls on its *** before it even idles out...
my ac doesnt work... blows air out the bottom/top but not the normal vents... isnt that a vacuum problem? and if so, could that same vacuum problem be causing this?
just getting reaaaly frustrated...
cory

I believe that if the controller that directs the air from your HVAC system, which runs off engine vacuum, stops working or loses its vacuum it defaults to the defrost vent
don't know if that's any help

Your vacuum check valve is disconnected or broken; Shoebox has a photo here:

I've had the above go bad.....
I had the Vent selector on main vents....however whenever I would floor it; the airflow would transfer to the defrost vents. I'd let off the accelerator and then the airflow would transfer back to the main vents. It was really strange. I replaced the above and it fixed the problem. There is also a "Reserve Vacuum" tank mounted on the passenger frame rail(located right front corner...just pull the off the plastic cover....). There could be a problem with the line leading to that tank. I screwed my line up replacing the check valve. I had to replace that line to the tank.
