is this a fake SS ???

Ive been looking at this car online, and it has two ads in teh autotrader for teh same car, same dealer.
http://edmunds.autotrader.com/fyc/vd...&doors=&fuel=&
that one you can see it says ss and looks like an SS.
this one, http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ca...or=&cardist=26
says Z28, but looks like an SS and the thing that got me is the pacard above the radio apears to say 'camaro', and i thought the SS was supposed to say SS or something similar. i called the dealer and the insist its a SS and that the made a mistake in one of the ads. seems strange.

The dash Plaque is another option.

Mine says Camaro on it as well.

No biggie - you can buy them from SLP - assuming that you can give the vin # to your SS.

That is how I got my SS floormats - yes, another option.

Re: is this a fake SS ???

I called Terri at SLP and had them check the VIN for you. It's a real SS, they just didn't have the dash plaque as a selected option when it was built. Hope this helps.

They won't sell you SS parts unless you actually have a SS? What an odd way to make money.

It helps maintain the value of our numbered specialty vehicles. Otherwise, conversions would be worth as much as originals.

Re: is this a fake SS ???

well, i just went to see the car and i was not impressed. it had scratches all over the sides, and it had obviously been repainted at some point. I could see bubbles in the paint, and mucho orange peel. i sold my 95 Z about 1.5 years ago and it was in better cosmetic shape than this car. I couldnt comment on how this car drove cause I had seen enough from the outside to know I would not buy that car. what a bummer.

Sorry to hear that didn't go well for you.

You dead set on an SS or would you be interested in a Firehawk? Here's a listing I found for the Camaros that may help:

well, im not dead set on an SS, but if I got a Z, i would soon after be buying the hood, spoiler and wheels. I would care less about the name 'SS' , i just preference the look better.

Re: is this a fake SS ???

well, I just found out that the new GTO has $2000 cash back as well as 2.9%.
Im so torn between getting the GTO(what i really want) and increasing my payments which I can afford; or getting a used car that is just as fast and lowering my payments to save money. i have had a camaro before and loved it, just ive grown up a little and the more subtle looks of the gto are appealing now. Im going to the dealer tonight and will just see how good a deal they make me.

Like what?

The only year specific mishap I know of is the temp gauges in the 99s not being too accurate.
