Weird thing happened to me this morning while changing the oil.
I got in the car to drive it up on the ramps and the car wouldn't start. (wouldn't even turn over...almost like a dead battery).
When I took the key out of the ignition, the security light stayed on. I then closed the door (I was still inside) and waited tried a couple of times to start it again. No luck.
I then got out of the car, shut the door and within 5 seconds, the security light went out.
Open the door, and the car starts fine.
I assume that I did something in the wrong progression for the security light to come on, however don't understand what that could possibly be.
Any information would be helpful.

You ignition switch has a set of contacts in it that connect to the resistor "pill" embedded in your key. These contacts can wear out and your Security system, VATS, doesn't see your key resistor.
