Re: F-body's heavy steering

My 94Z wasn't bad with 245/50-16s but got much heavier when the 275/40-17s went on it. Been thinking about losing the PS pump and going manual. Lighter weight > arm pump

Re: F-body's heavy steering

I like the steering of our f-bods.

Since my car is in the shop, I'm driving a '04 V6 Accord. Don't like the feel of the steering...too light.

It's probably where I just don't drive the Z that much. I drive my RS 3rd gen. most of the time.

Re: F-body's heavy steering

Back when my car had 245's up front for a couple of months, there was a definite difference with the steering. It was quite a bit easier to steer, especailly when not moving. Going back to 275's made more resistance in the steering. I particularly like the tighter steering, especially on the freeway. I've driven my dads old car, which was an SC400 and the steering on that car was increadably loose as well as the brake. The brake was so damned sensitive that I just had to barely push on it and the car would take a nose dive.

I don't know, I prefer the tighter everything with my car, like the tighter steering, the tighter brake responce, and the tighter suspension. Just feels like more of a performance car to me.

Re: F-body's heavy steering

This is why I like the earlier C4 Corvettes. Many of them had the 13:1 steering ratio. F-bodies are somewhere in the 15.5 range. Feels sloppy by comparison.

I have a 95 and 01 Z28. To me, they feel the same in almost every aspect; especially steering effort. They're huggers with big tires. I love it!
