Exhaust help please...

Who makes the least expensive cat-back system that will not rust for a 1990 Camaro RS? (305 TBI). I installed a Dynomax system 3-4 years back, and it is rusted like crazy already. I don't want to go that route again, but I also don't have a lot to spend on exhaust right now, having to also put a fuel pump in the car. Thanks in advance....

Re: Exhaust help please...

the dyno max should have been aluminized. not sure why it rusted so bad..so quickly

i had a magnaflow system that was aluminized tubing and it was still in great shape after 6yrs. maybe northern winters are worse on it than salty florida air.

but basically you'd have to get a borla or GMMG...to get stainless tubing.

or do you mean just the muffler??
there are several companies making fully stainless mufflers, i think the magnaflows are.

I second the Magnaflow idea, stainless steel construction and a good sound for a very affordable price.

A full cat back system is what I meant....and I also thought the Dynomax system would last longer than it is??

Stainless is your friend. An aluminized coating simply protects the mild steel underneath until it's consumed by galvanic reaction. The more corrosive the environment, the quicker the coating is consumed and when it's gone, the base metal corrodes. In a rust-belt environment, aluminized material can rust through in as little as 18 months. Normally it lasts longer, but in extreme cases it goes quickly. The cheapest stainless systems will be made from 409 stainless. 304 is much more expensive, but stays nice just about forever.
