Electrical Gremlin - Fusible Link E
Electrical Gremlin - Fusible Link E
Hey guys,
Need some help - I'm posting this on all the big forums I know because my dad and I are STUMPED.
I'm drawing 120 milli-amps from fusible link E's circuit at all times. We have the GM Service Manual which is what we're going by for electrical schematics. Fusible Link E goes to the ignition switch and the RAP module, then continues on to others. We've disconnected the ignition switch and the RAP module (thus disconnecting downstream electronics), and yet it still draws 120 milli-amps.
We've pulled every fuse from the vehicle all at once and I still draw 120 milli-amps.
Does anyone have any ideas on things we could try?

Re: Electrical Gremlin - Fusible Link E
Thanks for the reply. We've pulled all the fuses and the draw was still there -- and we're ONLY measuring the fusible link E circuit, so it can only be something drawing on that circuit.
Re: Electrical Gremlin - Fusible Link E
Not easy but I would pull connector P100 page 8A-202-19 figure 36 to isolate the current draw to either the inside or the engine bay. If it gos away with P100 disconnected then it's inside. If inside would then remove the IP fuse panel and pull wire 102 off the rear see 8A-11-1 (rear view) that would eliminate the fuse panel, I can't seem to find splice S200 to isolate the wire split to ignition and fuse panel and RAP. That would be a good point to split the circuit for isolation. There aren't a lot of wires in the circuit, just a PITA to get to.

We did disconnect P100, the big massive plug just past the firewall. Unfortunately that did not change the draw.
Re: Electrical Gremlin - Fusible Link E
It's a single wire from link E to P100 120 Ma would be about 100 Ohms to ground. If you pull P100 and disconnect link E from the +12 dist post does it meter 0 ohms ? Strange the draw is so low, must be shorted to another circuit, not ground, maybe in the connector head.
Re: Electrical Gremlin - Fusible Link E
Bob,
First -- thank you for your help, I really appreciate the replies. I'm a little confused though -- What year is your service manual? My 8A - 202 - 19 is the black PCM plug. Isn't P100 the grommet where the wire harness passes through the firewall under the master cylinder?
Right now we're just trying to get the car to start again -- we made the mistake of pulling the ignition switch plugs and what a pain in the butt trying to plug it back in.
