Either blinker or running light works

Had a burnt out tail light/blinker and replaced it, but the blinker still didnt work. So I installed a new flasher. After installing the new flasher, if I have the bulb in one way the blinker will flash, if I turn it 180 then only the running light will be on. What could be causing this?

Thanks

corrosion in the socket the light bulb plugs into, or faulty wiring going to that plug.

It might be the tail light socket.... Its a 2 part plastic piece with die electric grease squeezed into it.... In mine the grease was dry and flaking, and the internal connection were rusted... Cost around 10~15 dollars at the dealership, but does not come with the die electric grease.. You can pick some up at a local part store, or buy at dealership.. Costs vary..

DO NOT use regular grease......

I believe this is the part .. GM PART # 12003759
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $22.40
OUR PRICE: $11.65

Thanks for the replies. Its supposedly fixed its self for now but I'm going to replace the socket cause that grease in it is all dried up.
