Driver's side window switches out of stock everywhere?

I need a driver's side window switch for my '94 Z28 (part number 10402838 ). I ordered one from http://www.partszoneonline.com/ after calling a few dealerships and being told they were on backorder. Now, partszoneonline.com sent me an e-mail saying that the switch is on "national backorder".

Does anyone know of a source that would have these available? I'm assuming GMpartsdirect.com does not have them available since they are essentially just a dealership, and I don't really care to take a chance on it since they claim "orders cannot be changed for any reason". I sent them an e-mail just in case.

Anyway, has anyone been able to get one of these recently?

Just recieved this response from Parts Zone:

GM does not have any date as to when this will be available. It looks like it will be a while from what I am seeing.
Doesn't sound good. I've had one or two of these break before...surely they haven't just stopped making them. These cars aren't THAT old. Does anybody have any suggestions?

I recently went through the same thing and found a guy on e-bay selling them. I had to buy driver's & passenger's side full assembly (all switches and trim plate) so a $4 switch cost me $45. If the switch wasn't completely dead I would have waited for the backordered switch. I tried all gm parts websites and all said long backorder.

If you really need the switch I would try e-bay. Someone always seems to be selling them.

There are plenty of the '97 and up switches on Ebay. They look very similar to the early switches, and the plate they are mounted in looks identical (from pictures on the internet). Can anyone verify that the '97 and later switches will fit in the '93-'96 cars?

According to the online oem part storefront that the switch is backordered from, yes the swithces and/or full switch assembly (plate etc.) is the same from '93 to '01.

Yep I went to the dealership and found the backorder too. However, I did order the 97 and up switch from ebay for like 15 bucks. It should be here in a few days. I'll let you know my findings.

I bought my new GM power window switches from the guy below over a year ago. They work fine.

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it. That looks like my best option right now.

Thanks for the information. Do you have a link to the auction so I can see who you got it from?
