Driver side power window

The power window switch for my driver side window doesn't work anymore. It will go up, but not down. Do I have to go through GM and get a new switch? Anyone had this problem, and how did you fix it?

Switches from GM are pretty inexpensive and easy to install. You can see how to get to the switches in the window motor replacement guide on my Tech Page.
