Does the v6 and ls1 have the same brakes? I don't think they do but, drove my freinds 2002 v6 and the brakes are so "touchy" and responsive. I think my brakes would stop the same or better powerslot rotors and hawk pads, but they just don't feel as good I guess it was real easy in his car to get low trac to come on frm braking. Thanks guys

yeah they do have the same brakes...

to do the ls1 brake conversion you can pull parts from the v8s or the v6s....that's why it's so popular.

even with your upgrades, the brakes are still that much better

When was the last time you put all new brake fluid in your car? If its been more than 2 years, its time to do it. New brake fluid will give you a much better feel if the old stuff is black and nasty looking.

Ok I have read about the ls1 upgrade forever, but thought it was only v8 hence the name ls1 upgrade. Looks like the v8 cars would get better brakes...but i guess its cheaper to do it that way. its been almost 2yrs so I guess I might change out my fluid again. I love the pedal feel on them cars. Thanks guys.

Mine came off a 3.8L. Took all of hour to do the whole thing, minus alignment.

Does it have to be a new 3.8? Because my friend has a 95 3.8 I believe it has drums in the back.

It has to be a 98 or newer to get the LS1 set up. The difference is bigger rotors, 2 piston calipers, that are aluminum, not iron.
