Does anyone make engine swap kits?

Kinda curious, cuz as far as I know, to go from my 89 305 to a LT1 or LS1, I need an adapter(or different piece) to get the engine to hook up to the trans, and then all that computer junk.

Seems like engine swaps might be popular enough that someone might have made a little package of all the little things needed to hook up the computer stuff and whatever else might be needed.

Re: Does anyone make engine swap kits?

There are a few sites that list what is needed for an SBC to LT1 swap. I'm sure there is one site that lists swapping to both LT1 or the LS1 from an SBC set-up.

Why would you need ANY kit when you have factory donor cars to pick from?

LT1 hooks up to the tranny you have now.

I didnt think the LT1 would, thoguht someone had said it wouldn't before. What about the computer junk, wiring it into the car and mounting the comuter unit "thingy"

It will. The LT1 will bolt directly into your car, no modifications required. All you need to do is get the proper wiring harness to get it working.

I'm not sure if you'd have to fab up some custom power steering and AC/lines. It wouldnt be too hard to do. I'm also not sure if the radiator from the original motor would have the hose inlet and outlet in the right places to fit the LT1 hoses, but again that is not hard to remedy with a different radiator. Another concern is fuel. Does your stock system have a strong enough pump and a return line? The LT1 fuel rail is set up to recirculate unused fuel back to the tank.

LT1 cars have composite and plastic bodies, except for the quarter panels and hoods. Hoods dont really rust, so rust will be limited to the rear fender lips mostly.
