Please do tell if there is, this feature does get annoying at times... It's the reason it ONLY came out in 97...

Re: Disable Automatic headlights??

My 1995 had it.. and my 2002 has it.. I love it.. there was a write up on how to disable it.. I didnt pay it much attention since I actually prefer not having to touch a **** to turn on a light..

Ahhh! i cant find it anywhere. it's always good to be able to turn your lights OFF at night, ya know, for stealth driving

Re: Disable Automatic headlights??

in the 98+ there is a little grey box behind the radio with 2 connectors going to it. I pulled out the big connector and now I can turn my lights on when I want. I dont know if this little box is on the 97's but I assume it would be.

I did it on mine its very easy. If you look on your dash there is a little sensor in the vent thats where you need to get. Take out your radio and you can get to it just twist and it will drop down. Take out the sensor and get a paper clip bend in in a U shape and place it where the light sensor was and you have control over the lights now.

I have no idea why they would put a light switch when you cant even use it

The switch is so if you need to manually turn on your lights like if your in the rain.

Taking out the sensor was easy, I did it on my 98 after a few months of owning it.
the upper part of the dash pops off, I put a rag over a flat screw driver then pried up the dash over the passenger side airbag, you'll need to push the passenger front A piller to the side and once it's up enough to get your hands in you simply cut the 2 wires going into the light sensor and use a wire nut to connect the 2 on the car together and it's done!
Takes a hole 5 min, only lights that work auto are the DRLs now

Get to it like chrisz24 did but dont cut the wires just pull the sensor out of the clip and do the paper clip thing thats the best way no cuting wires and you can put it back to normal if you want.

easiest way IMO is to pull the radio and disconnect the DRL module. takes only like 5 minutes.
