Differences between SS and Z28?
I was wondering what the physical differences are between an SS Camaro and a Z28. (i.e. emblems) Basically, if I wanted to do an SS clone, what would I have to do to a Z28?
Well you obviously have the ram air hood scoop, the wheels, the spoiler, and the badges as u said. Those are just the most obvious, exterior ones though...there are many internal ones that im not completely sure about.
pretty much the only thing the ss has on the z28 is exterior mods....and the only performance mods are intake and exhaust..which if your buying a car to make it go fast...your gonna replace ne way..so for the huge price difference between the SS and the Z28 im i would go Z28...and replace the intake ad exhaust..and you would pretty much have an SS..
Many people believe that SS also had better suspension, but this is not true unless it was specifically ordered when the car was built. If you did get the suspension upgrade it was called The Bilstein Upgrade, to check if you do your shocks would be blue and yellow on your SS if you have this upgrade, if they are orange like most SS's are it is same Suspension as a Z28.
This is atleast for Fourth Gen F-bodys...I'm not real sure about the others gens

There are a couple of things to realize here, first the base differences:
emblems
Ram Air hood and intake
Cat-back exhaust
17" wheels & tires
32mm front sway bar
upgraded rear spoiler (depending on year)
Second, by getting the SS, you had a lot of other options that could be ordered from SLP. Depending on the year, this included upgraded suspension (Level II, Ultra, 1LE), rear differential, engine (LT4 in 97), shifter, chrome wheels, etc.
Anyway, to answer your question, to do an SS clone all you need are the wheels, hood (and airbox if you want the clone to hold up when you open the hood), cat-back and emblems.

All SS's do have a different rear spoiler also. 96-97's had a slightly raised lip spoiler, the 98-02 had the higher spoiler with the 2 posts in the middle. Springs are slightly stiffer I belive 1LE, as well as the shocks, at least with 96-97 the shocks were.
