Thumbs up Deciding to trade LT1 for LS1 but.......

Related to my post ( http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=438054 ) actually after calculate and discuses with some friends I find that buy LS1 will relief me from hard work. How? LS1 with few mods can get mostly high or low 11's and that’s my goal. LT1 needs a lot of money and time to do it to reach my goal. The advantage from buying LS1 is a lot (less fuel consumption, new, else….) but not now, need to save money to get it and here is the link http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...99#post4454599

traitor!

J/K - Good luck, hope you find a good one! LS1s are badass, even a hardcore LT1 guy like me has to admit it

Its up to you, but the extra money you spend to obtain an LS1 could easily be used towards your current car to reach your goals. There are plenty of LT owners on here in the 11s and beyond.

yeah, go spend $15K minimum on a nice stock ls1, then put $6K in parts in it to run low 11s on motor. thats a lot cheaper then putting $6-8K in work into a car you already have that would also run low 11s on motor. my bone stock motor lt1 is in the high 12s. youll think LS1s are cheaper until you break one. ls1s are great motors, but if you cant get the job done with an lt1 i doubt youll be able to do it with an ls1 either.

You are right. I recalculated a gain, I decide to stay with my LT1 but I will rebuilt the engine and install 306 cam to get low 11's!!

we built a 396 inch lt1 for a buddies car back in '98. the heads flowed 255, the cam was similar to a cc306 but with a little more intake duration. it was a pretty mild cam for that big a motor. anyway, with 1 5/8" headers it made 436rwhp and went 11.40s@123mph with a 1.8 60' time on motor. 123 is enough mph to get into the high 10s. and that was about a $2K shortblock (4340 rotating assembly)with a ****ty HR cam, heads and headers. that car ran on pump gas and was a 6 speed with a 10 bolt. it truly was a low 11 second daily driver. it go wrecked in 1999 in a street race with a viper.

as a side note, we did play around with an NOS dry kit on it on the dyno and made 660rwhp with it, but it never got used at the track because we couldnt hook it up on the 26x10.5-16 et streets that the car ran on.
