De-Badging a Z28

Re: De-Badging a Z28
There are no holes.
Easy to do:
1. Heat up emblem. Either park outside on a hot day, or use a hair dryer.
2. Take a piece of fishing line ang gently "saw" back and forth between the adhesive and the car.
3. Rinse and repeat for each emblem.

Might want to use some Goo-Gone too to get any leftover stuff off.
If he's going to be painting the car, taking this stuff off and then re-sticking it with new tape is better than masking it and painting it, IMO.

If the car is going to sit overnight after you remove the emblem. Smear some peanut butter where the glue was and it will simply wipe off the next morning.
If you park outside though, beware of dogs or animals eating it off your car

I never really had any luck with a hair dryer. I would prefer a heat gun if you can get one. I used one and it came of REAL easy.
But make sure not to get it to close to your cars paint or blast it in one spot for awhile
I would say just hold it 6 inchs away and keep touching it tell it feels hot enough.

i put masking tape around the emblem, then use a guitar string(thinest one you can find) and just go right under the emblem. ive done this a few times and did it on my z in oct. this way there is no heat involved that could hurt the paint.
hope it helps

I tried something like that with my old fender from my wreck to get the side molding off and the wire ended up going into the side molding. But the emblems are alot harder then the side moldings so there might not be a problem. Just be careful.

Goo-Gone and fishing line worked perfectly for me. I took the fishing line and pulled it under the old emblem as close to the emblem as possible so I wasn't scraping the paint. If your saving the old emblem, I would go very slow. Left over was the foam rubber to be rubbed off with Goo-Gone. Carfeul not to scratch and cause swirl marks on your paint and make sure you rinse that Goo-Gone off the car. Use soft sponge and make sure you clean the surface really good before mounting a new badge. I recommend 3M double sticky Industrial strength if you plan on mounting new badges. With my new badges (if you run into this) I had to dremel off the posts and then sand the backing, then used JBWeld to fill the grooves/rough backing and then smoothed it out. It was perfect for the 3M tape to stick to. No problems yet.
Here's the badges I put on.
