I just picked up a 01 Z28. It has a rattle in the dash and it seems to be the large flat panel between the windshield and dash. I would love to remove that panel and add some dampening sheeting. Anyone know how to remove it? Thanks.

 

It is held on by four velcro tabs towards the front (windshield) side and two or four tabs that slide down into slots...it is nearly impossible to get off without cracking it to pieces...

Take the side A-pillers off and gently pry up on the corners of the dash. It is just stuck down with double sided hard velcro tabs. I have taken mine off repeatedly with no problems. But, the key is to take the side A-piller covers off. (Which are held in by metal tabs and a screw at the top if you have t-tops)

If you want me to take pictures of where these tabs and velcro are located I can. I have no dash on mine at the present time as it is on order.

Mine was actually already cracked and I was trying to remove it and it could be sun faded and dried and that's why it cracked so easily(even though my car has always been garage kept) but who knows...it cracked REALLY easy.

I'll take the pics if you need to see where the tabs are, It's no problem but will have to be tomorrow my camera has no bulb.

Yes, please take a couple pictures. I sure want to stop it rattling. It is just to thin around the vent area. Thanks for all the info guys.
