Cutting off Cat?

I am thinking about getting my cat cut off today but was wondering if this will cause me any problems. Will it cause any check engine lights or my 02 sensors to fail? I know it will be louder but I am hoping it wont be to terribly bad. Any suggestions would be great.

One suggestion would be, not to do it. I don't know about the laws there in Tennessee, but here in southern cali they are extremely strict about that sort of thing. I know that if you cut your cats off it's illegal. I'm not sure if this is true but last I heard here in southern California if you are caught without your cats then you can get upwards of a $2,000 fine?

Maybe an alternative would be to gut the cat? Then you could weld it back together...so you would still get the feel of what it would be like to have it taken off but it would still be on just incase a sneaky cop decided to check under your car (it's happened here.)

Yeah just gut it and leave it on the car. That way it's still there if they happen to look under the car. You don't have to cut it off to gut it, it can be done by unbolting it and punching through the honey comb crap. Then just start the car and blow all of it out before you bolt it back up. The only thing you'll really notice besides a slightly louder sound and a small gain in performance is a gasier smell. But nothing to bad
