Cruise Control
Ok, does your a/c still work? I have a bad compressor, everytime I moved the HVAC fan control past any off the a/c settings to regular fan settings, it would blow the fuse in the engine bay fuse box. I just unplugged the a/c at the unit. Anyway, still check the fuses in the engine bay.
It could just be that the switch is screwed. F-bodies use the exact same switch that older GM trucks used, and a lot of them (switches) die. I know we had that with my dad's old truck, and his friend at work had the exact same problem too......the cruise still worked, but with a new switch

well guys...
today the cruise control decided to magically heal itself... hope thats not a warning sign. Thanks for the suggestions though, because the switch might be all my truck needs

I have an interesting issue with mine. Takes some cajoling to get it to work.
I have do this:
-Pressing the throttle in some
-Hold the button in (to the right) until it engages and then still hold it in a little more, while I'm still accelerating. If I let off too early, the cruise will come off. Sometimes I will have to keep pushing it in (it not engaging wasn't b/c I didn't hold it in long enough - it just wasn't going to work that time.)
-Have to be going 5-8mph under the speed I intend on setting the cc at, because of how I have to hold it in before it will "stick."
-Playing with the other buttons on the stick helps too...
Basically I avoid hitting the brakes.

^ ^ again, sounds like your switch is dying, since it's getting harder and harder to set (and it's not that it won't work, it's just hard
). I think the connections inside the switch must be cheap and wear out to the point they don't make good contact anymore?
