Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
I messed up my car pretty good lastnight....I took out the driver door, fender, nose, pass fender, and alil damage to the hood. Also kit right behind the door on the driver side. Its a 6spd car. 104,000mi, . pro 5.0 brand new shifter, slp headers, pipes catback, granatelli mass air, slp air foil, 1.6 roller rockers, Brand new opit, new radiator and water pump, brand new clutch, grey leather interior in great condition, msd coil, just tuned up, camaro ss wheels but they could be dented now. Car was beautiful in and out before this.
Should I part it or sell it hole or fix it. I think i would need a whole nother car to fix it. How much could i get for it parts/ hole.

Re: Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
repair cost would probably be more or in the neighborhood of a new (used) LT1 fbody. Sometimes our cars are never the same after they get smashed up too, stuff leaks and rattles more then before. I would probably part it out and start lookin for a replacement. I see entire cars with performance built motors for sale on the boards all the time for 7-8k $.

Oh... Well, in that case...
Hopefully it can be fixed for you so you can keep your baby; but yeah, sometimes the car is never the same - depending on how bad the wreck was of course.

Re: Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
Even if the frame is not bent, repair costs will nearly eclipse the value of the car. I would part it out.
Post some pics. What you describe is alot of damage, but without seeing it it is hard to tell.

Re: Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
I have a little fender bender rear bumper damage on my car (gaps are a little wider than they should be and the bumper is pushed down), and a huge dent in the quarter panel right behind the door. I was quoted two grand to get everything back to normal. So just estimating by what you said, I think you are looking at least 5 grand worths of money to get it back to normal. Take all your parts off it now, and put them onto the new one. Sorry to hear about your accident.
Re: Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
Part it out. People are always looking for a six speed swap (trans, crossmember, clutch/flywheel, slave cylinder, pedals), heads, a shortblock, wheels, interior pieces, etc.
Re: Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
Its up for sale.....I dont have the time or money to fix it right now. Look for it in the cars for sale section....as soon as it stop raining.....Ill post some pics. Thanks for all your help.
Re: Crashed me car...FIX OR PART?
I wouldnt have it fixed by insurance. First, the car will never be the same. Part wont fit quite right. Things will rattle and leak, but that has been mentioned already. Resale value just hit the floor b/c of the accident. Sell the parts. You can make what the car is worth in parts (maybe a little more or less). Also, since it is a T/A, you might find some formula guys who want that hatch with the spoiler. Sell everything you can, you will be surprised on the money you will make from it. From that, maybe you could get a good down payment on a new camaro (whenever they make that concept... damn I want one). Sorry to hear about the accident. I love my f-body.
