Unhappy Could really use some help here :( (GM, non-F-body)

(Mods, I really apologize if this is inappropriate for this forum, but I don't know where else I can ask this question & have a chance of getting a worthwhile answer...)

My wife's daily driver is an '02 Alero with the 3400 V6. We've just discovered that we've got coolant getting into the crankcase.

It seems to me that it's likely either leaking through the intake manifold or the head gaskets, & I would like to find out the relative likelihood of each. Since the car's been driving fine, I'm thinking that it's likely the intake gasket, but I'd really prefer to get some answers from people who have experience.

Thanks in advance, I'm gonna try to not get too bummed over this...

There actually is a site for ALEROS
www.aleromod.com

Use their "search" feature, with the entry, "head gasket" you'll get quite a few threads.

I also own a 2001 Alero

I would say its the intake gaskets, they are know to leak, and fel-pro is working on a redesign, but its not out yet

OK, that shouldn't surprise me, I guess...

OK... I guess every car has it's weak points, but I thought that this car's weak points were primarily the rotors.

(EDIT: OUCH! A local dealership quoted me $1150 to fix this! Guess I'll be buying the factory shop manual for THIS car too... )

Well, once I had one as a rental on a biz trip, & I figured that it'd be a pretty neat little daily driver! We absolutely love the car, but I'm beginning to get to the point where I'm not even going to consider GM products any more...

Frank, Dave, thanks for the replies.
