Re: Cost of F-Body

Kind of a broad question!!!

depends:
Trans am or Camaro...
The miles on the car...
Auto or 6spd...
Overall Condition...
Other options on the car...

are all factors that could affect price.....look around on autotrader and ebay to find out how the market for an fbody is.
How much do u want to spend?

Re: Cost of F-Body

www.autotrader.com, Ebay, local newspaper etc. will give you an idea about the local market, and beyond.

Prices seem to vary anywhere between $7K (usually a high mileage 98-99 LS1) and $20+K (usually a low mileage 02 CE SS/CETA).

So, yeah, you might want to be a bit more specific as to what you are looking for, what is your budget etc.

Re: Cost of F-Body

I believe it all depends on your region. I almost sold my 97 for an 01 z28. on the 01 they were asking $8500 and it only had 60,000miles. Yet theres also an 02 SS with 198mi and their asking 31,000 and its been sitting in a garage since it got off the truck.

Typical price is $8000-$14000 for an average mile car around IL, lower mile car your looking at 15,000-29,000

I've just spent 4 months shopping and finally bought one. From what I've seen $8.5K is an excellent price for an '01 with reasonable miles. If it has nothing wrong you should snap it up. I just spent $23.5K for my '02 SS convertible.

A 5 speed would be an RS, BTW. Z28's were blessed with that 6'th gear.

In simpler terms: 6 cylinder f-bodies got 5 speed manual transmissions, 8 cyliner f-bodies got 6 speed maulay transmissions.

You should easily find a 00-02 Z28 for 10-14K.

I doubt that you'll find one witha 60K miles for that price, but under 100K, anyway.

Here are a couple of examples:

99 Formula, $8900
99 Z28, $8950
99 Trans Am, $9350
99 Z28 w/42K miles!!!, $9800

And these are just here in the DFW area, but I'm sure you get the point: the deals are out there.

Thanks guys I am going to look at the 2000 z28. It is not so far away from where I am at since I live in Paris, Texas.

P.S.> Some forums pound on their newbies for such questions. However, you have been nice and paticent with me. Thanks again.

Re: Cost of F-Body

My mom and dad really didn't care what i did, i just didn't feel like going into a $1500 debt at 16. I know i could've payed it off in a month n a half or so...just didn't feel like it. I like the LT1 front end anyway...and the 01 was white...im a dark color only guy. Not really excuses, im just damn picky about my cars.

Oops... Yeah, it's actually 2000. My bad...

If you go look at it, let us know how it went, what the car was like, how the dealer was like etc.

That place seems to have a bunch of quite inexpensive F-bodies for sale and I've been wondering why... Are they fixer-uppers, salvaged etc., or something. Or do they just simply offer you a good deal? Who knows...
