corroded battery cable

I have my amp hooked up to the top post of my battery. And it corrods very bad. How do I stop it from doing that??

You can also buy a spray can of battery terminal cleaner, and use a wire brush. Just dont breathe the dust from the corrosion, it leaves the WORST taste in the back of your throat. After you have everything back together, then you can coat it with the grease.

Advance Auto sells these little felt discs that go over the battery terminals and keep it from corroding. They only cost a few bucks. I bet AutoZone and Murray's carry them too, but I saw them at Advance and my roommate said that he's been using them for a long time on his Jeep and they do a good job. I'm going to get a set for both my cars.
