cold air instake...

sorry to make 2 threads in a day, but I got some money, and I got the mod bug!

Anyone care to reccomend a cold air? Is just the whisper lid a good choice, or arre the pricier ones like the K&N FIPK really worth the money.

thanks again in advance all you guru's!

Re: cold air instake...

I believe whisper style lids dyno around 12rwhp and K&N FIPK dynos 18rwhp on our cars if I remember right. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Whatever the numbers, FIPK is better but over twice the cost.

Re: cold air instake...

Personally, I'd just stick with a lid and a paper filter.

LS1s already have a "cold air intake" by design because the intake inlet is far enough away from the engine to grab "cold air" (that's cooler than the air closer to the engine).

Re: cold air instake...

if you want a true cold air intake for the LS1....go for the SSRA

at slower speeds it is a CAI

at higher speeds it becomes a ramair system
