Coated or not coated???

I am looking at getting some headers. I know full-lenghts is the best way to go but i am worried about ground clearance, so i am going to with some mid-lengths. I am istalling my self, so i know MAC mid-lenghts are known to be pretty simple. Now my question is what is the diffrecne between coated, and non-coated headers? is there a performace diffrence? i don't have a lot fo money so i want to keep it on the lower side, how much would it be for a set of Mac Mid-lenghts with single cat coated cost? uncoated? any one have any idea Thanks

Coated makes the headers last longer and keeps them looking new. It also keeps hot exhaust in and drops engine temp. Keeps the plug wires from burning up also. Do a search and I'm sure you'll get alot more info.

Coated headers advantage mainly lies in keeping underhood temperatures down and protecting them from rust. Headers get hot, really hot. My Macs are uncoated and they become too hot to touch wiht in a matter or seconds of the engine running. I have had no problems with burnign wires (heat resistant Accel's routed in the stock location) and only have a small amount of surface rust on my headers.

If I had the money I would definately have went coated, but I'm 19 and on a tight budget. I decided I could put the extra $200 elsewhere. I applied high temp header paint to them before the install, but I doubt it did much. Made me feel a bit better about them though Too see pics click the second picture link in my sig.

Macs are advertised to have a HTS coating to help protect them from the weather, but it's honestly pretty worthless. Uncoated they run $400 new, coated about $550. I paid $250 shipped for mine used. Just search teh for sale section, things come up there cheap all of the time.
