changing steering wheel on 4th gen

changing steering wheel on 4th gen

i have seen it but dont know how its done.removing the air bag wheel and changing to a regular style steering wheel

Its not really complicated. You remove the airbag, remove the stock wheel with a puller, install the new wheel's hub and then the new wheel. Then you will have the airbag light in the dash lit and you can cut the wire to turn that off.

Make sure you disable the air bags before you do this. Take out the fuse and wait ten minutes before you mess around with the steering wheel.

Its pretty easy to do, I have a Grant GT wheel with a billet adapter on mine.
I had the cluster out and just removed the bulb to get rid of the lite.

You could measure the resistance of the air bag and then put that size resister in the connector. That way if you get in a accident the passenger air bag still goes off.

If the air bag system detects a fault neither air bag will go off in a accident.

I recommend NOT measuring the resistance of the airbag, that might be enough to set the bag off
