CE engines on 2nd generation Camaros

Hello everyone, I am new to CamaroZ28.com. I owned a 1971 Camaro years ago, and I am considering getting back into the Camaro world. I have been looking at a 1970 Z28 with a CE replacement engine that has a 1970 casting number on it. The stamping on the pad is not real strong, so the entire number is not legible, but it does begin with the CE. I understand this could be a warranty replacement, but that it could also be an over the counter replacement motor that was installed "who knows when". I have historically preferred to own classic cars with original equipment. Obviously a car with the original motor is more desirable (at least for some people), but it seems that there are not too many of these out there, at least that are affordable for the average car buff. I am interested in what the general consensus is as to whether I should be concerned about buying a Z28 with a CE engine where the stamping is not completely legible? This is not a tribute car, but has Z28 on the trim tag. I am not buying this car to flip it, but to enjoy it and drive it. However, when it does come time to sell it, will people be concerned that it has a CE engine? Thank you for your input!

I think you spelled out your answer in your own post. You just want to drive and enjoy, so who cares about what casting number is on the engine? If it performs well, and the price is right, go for it.
