Carbed 1st gen in 4th gen

I sold my LT1 and im building a 420 ci motwn block eng,im going to run a 1000cfm Barry grant dominator for now Untill I save for the FAST comp and TB.My question is is there any way to run the factory steering pump with the first gen block? or will another pump work with this rack? I will also be using a fist gen power master ALT or the factory ALT if it can be maade to work. Any advice for the swap? This thing will have no street manners as its got a very LARGE solid roller (260@.50) 672 lift, but I would like to retain some sort of a resemblance to to its former self.

You'd have to look at the fronts of the blocks and see if the brackets will line up. I know that the accessory brackets on first gens used the water pump bolts as anchor points, and LT1s dont have the same water pumps.

As far as getting the LT1 brackets on a SBC, i'd say it might be posssible. The blocks are very similar. It would be easy to tell if we had a picture of a bare LT1 block, and then that same block with the brackets mounted on it to compare to a picture of the front of a SBC block.

HERE is a picture of the LT1 accessory bracket. It fastens via the 2 bolts into the face of the head. I know for sure thes two bolts are the same on SBC blocks, so It looks like you have a shot at it working. One challenge might be getting the LT1 ballencer/pulley to work, but it might just bolt right up, too.

You have to fabricate brackets to hold the pump, but yes the old pump can be modified to use the rack. As far as the LT1 brackets bolting to the SBC, they will, but not totally. (usually 2 out of 3 bolts) But don't worry, a little modifieng and you can finish the job. Sometimes with these swaps the oil pan has to be *cough* "massaged" to clear the rack. I'd also use a low profile dissy and crank trigger if possible.

Re: Carbed 1st gen in 4th gen

I ran a lt1 computer on my SBC, so I used an LT1 computer and alternator. I fabbed my brackets and had them powdercoated. For my fuel lines I did the LT1 intake mod, and I'm using an opti cam sensor on a fabbed cover. So, as you can imagine the fuel line conversion wasn't that hard. If you want to keep the factory lines with your "new" engine, you will need to buy a 3-Port regulator, and some AN fittings. Yes, the pro billet will clear, heck a normal one will. BUT, removing the dissy is impossible without removing the manifold as well. Most people go low profile for ease of tuning.
