Well this is a little strange. first off here is what the car is:

1983 Z28
406ci with a full MSD ignition, I am running a MSD 6AL and a MSD distributor part number 8361(the one made to work with only the MSD ignition boxes. The car ran like a dream no probs at all for 2 years now. It had been neglected prolly the last year or so just sitting in my garage. Well I took it out this summer and drove it a few times. The last time I drove it, it just stalled and wouldnt start again. I got it towed back home and checked the plugs and they arent getting any spark at all. I checked the MSD box it has power coming into it but not coming out of it. There is no power at teh ignition coil either. So my question is do u think its the box or something else? Now there no signs of this, it ran great ran high 11's at the track and drove around town like it was meant to. Then it just died............I just wanted some insight or direction before i buy new ones of either part since they are both about $230. thanks

Im going to say the box, i was going to say your coil but you said there is power going into the box and not comming out, sounds like an obvious problem to me

 

Call MSD and see what they say. It could be the box or the pick up in the dist.. Not sure if they have a fuse in the box?
Make sure there are no wires unpluged or have rubed the insulation off and grounding out somewhere

Well i did call MSD and I couldnt get through so I talked to the tech department at Summit and they said that the box sends the signal to the coil when to fire and that I should take the wire coming off the distributor and stick something in both terminals and try to start it. HE said it should spark and if it doesnt its the distributor and if it does that its the box, I'm going to try it but it just doesnt sound right to me. I'm worried that will fry something in the distributor/box that isnt the cause of why it wont start.
