Car will not shift out of first and no speedo.

I last drove the car in October. On the way out the belt broke and I have to bring her back home. Got it home with no trouble and with the holidays (we have a retail business selling pocketbikes, so it was a very busy time of year) I just did not have time to get it back on and running.

Fast foward to now, actually about a mont and a half ago. I go get a new battery, install the belt and fire it up. I take it down the driveway and get NO SPEEDO reading. The car will not shift either. I removed the VSS, cleaned it, no change. I have replaced the VSS as well, still no change. I have looked over the wires for "critter" damage and have found none. I took the battery wire off to reset the PCM and still NO LUCK.

There is no "check engine" or "check guages" light while I am driving, so I am assuming there are no codes.

What is going on?!?!

Don't assume. There are transmission codes that don't turn on the SES. Get it scanned for some help.

No codes are showing up with TTS or Freescan. Just hooked it up a second ago.

I did not use TTS to capture the transmission data though.

Hopefully you figured this out by now. My sons LT1 did the exact same thing. It had a brken wire that went to the senser on the tail shaft of the transmission.

My brother's 95 Pontiac did the exact same thing 2 weeks ago. We replaced the VSS to no avail. It ended up being a broken wire between the VSS and PCM.

Get out your multimeter and trace those wires.
