Car totaled: please help
So my car accident that my car was victimized in has begun to get moving, and I got the car estimated from the insurance.. OK state law says they can total a car at 60% of its value.
The estimate for my car totals it.. I'll get about 10.5k for the car minus my 1k deductible so thats 9.5k...
Should I a) Take all the insurance money and spend 2-3 grand more and buy a newer lower milage Z28/SS
b) take the money, buy back my car, part it out, and buy a newer car (same as A^)
c) Take the cash, buy it back, and spend 2 grand fixing it.

Was this where you were backed into...am I remembering the correct accident? If so, and the damage doesn't look that bad and there's nothing that will suffer from a mechanical standpoint, I'd say see what the insurance will sell it back for. If you get 10,500-1000=9500, and they sell yours back for 5,000+2,000 to fix=2500 for mods. A friend of mine actually had his mustang totalled at $12k, bought it back for $3500, and fixed it for $4k. So he had about $4500 left over when it was all said and done and dumped it into the car.
Re: Car totaled: please help
I had an old Turbo Plymouth Laser they totalled and didn't give me close to what it was worth. I bought it back from them and fixed it then took the remaining money and put it on a 95 Z28 M6. Just depends how bad the damage is. In my case they totalled the car but the engine and all major components were intact.
Also remember though that once that car has a salvage title it will always have a salvage title. Retail value on that car will be a fraction if you do keep it. Nothing wrong with that just be careful if you put a bunch of money into and plan on selling it.

Re: Car totaled: please help
No I got hit at a traffic light. They will total it. I think I'll buy it back and part it out. It could be easily repaired to look perfect, but I want all new parts and 100% repair, but since I know that'll cost me 9k+ I'll just start shopping for a new car...
Re: Car totaled: please help
I say go with B, unless that car is specila to you like mine was to me. My car was totaled back in April and I bought it back and fixed it because I knew I will never sell this car because my mom had bought it new in '94 so its been in the family and I want to keep it that way.
