I got a 93 formula a4, Wendsdays evening i was driving back home to nc from florida and i was about 120 miles away from my apartment when my car crapped out on me and it wouldnt start for about 1/2 hour. the fuel pump wasnt making any noises and when it did make a noise is sounded week and the noise was going in and out. I started headed back toward my apartment knowing this car wasnt going to make so when i did get it started i made it 70 miles then it did it again and then i made it 30 and then in the last 20 miles it did it about 5 times. longer i drove it worst it got until it barely ran. Everytime this happened too their was a spike in the cooling system like an air bubble because the temperature would jump up for a second and then run back down to normal temp. So im home now and the car runs fine and the fuel pump sounds healthy as can be. anybody have any ideas chime in

 

any mods?

was the car charging? could have been a drop in voltage to the pump and cooling fans.

could just be a bad fuel pump. which is not unheard of.

check your fuel pressure, might show something when you put it under load if the pump can't keep up.

could just be a bad ground wire someplace as well.

the i start the car up now and it will run fine and the fuel pump sounds healthy , could something be heating up and causing a short
