Can Someone Recommend a Decent Floor Jack?

I have been in need of a decent floor jack for a while, so while at Sears yesterday I picked up the one in the link below. After getting home and reading its reviews, I fear I have made a mistake. I plan to take this floor jack back, which will once again leave me in need of one...

Can anyone recommend something decent for around 100 bucks? I don't want the compact 40 dollar jack, as I have had that in the past and it sucks. But I don't want to spend 400 bucks either...

My floor jack is the Sears Professional model that is almost identical to that but is rated at 4 tons and is black and yellow in color. It is a very good jack and I am pretty sure I got it on sale for around 150 bucks and it included 4 jack stands as well. Keep your eyes peeled, Sears is running alot of good sales right now.

Any one that lifts 3 tons or more... was just at a Kmart last night and saw a nice Craftsman one for under 100 (3-ton) -- I got my 3-ton one from AutoZone a while back, hasn't given me and problems...

I recommend one 3 tons or more, and one without the feature that makes it contact the lift point in one pump, those will contact in one pump, but take 3 times as many pumps to raise it the same height as a regular jack

Would you rather take 3 times as long to raise the car once it's making contact or 3 times as long before you make contact? I'd rather have it slow and steady as it's going up after contact... Mine isn't like that I don't think...but it does have a separate pump for the foot or that can be pushed by hand until it makes contact rather than move the entire handle.

I have heard good things about the harbour freight and Northern tool aluminum jacks.

We have 2 harbour freights in orlando, and they just opened a Northern tool, check out both sites for pricing I guess but they were $85-130 I think for a 3 ton aluminum jack.

I suggest aluminum, the steel ones weigh an assload.

I have a 3 ton aluminum Craftsman jack, no issues, pulled the trany with it and lots of lifting, no issues yet, but I saw the reviews, not sure I woudl buy it again by those, but everything I have seen has been ok.

A couple of things to consider is the height of the jack in it's lowest position and the max height of the jack. For lowered cars, a lot of the floor jacks out there won't clear the subframe.

You also have to consider a flat tire.

why? if he has the spare in...he most likely has the jack.....if he doesn't have the jack for weight, well the spare surely isn't there then..

good point - mt car isn't lowered, but my jack is useless on the sides and won't go under the front unless I want to bend things -- I need to go up onto ramps first unless lifting the rear...

The car will be lower if you have a flat, so the jack can't be to tall to slide under the car.

so our jacks that come with the spare are useless in the event of a flat?....I have not yet had one on my Camaro, but I sure hope the engineers didn't make a stupid mistake there...

The poster is asking about an aftermarket jack, not the oem.
