my buddy has a 2004 mustang gt convertible 5 speed, bone stock. he says he can eat me any day. Do you think my 98 Z28 A4 with bigger wheels and a magnaflow catback would beat it or not??

There is no way that 04 GT will whip that 98 Z28. Your friend is delusional. At the least it would take a 05 GT with a good driver and then the LS1 will still have the edge.

lol. Totally bet money on it. I know a guy with an '04 GT and i kick the crap out of him all over the place.

He might keep up with you off the line, but those GT motors don't breathe well at higher RPMs. You'll walk all over him after that.

 

I guy I work with showed me his timeslip for a pretty much stock GT, hardtop (lighter), that was 5-speed ..... 14.55 @ ~95 mph (I know it was 14.5, I can't remember the speed exactly).

I've seen those cars running in the 15's as well.

My LS1 on a BAD day has run a 14.1, and on a GOOD day has run 13.0!! Kick that guy's a$$ and don't report back anything else. Even if you mess up your launch, you'll still catch him and pass him in the 1/4 mile!!

 

Tell him he's got a snowballs' chance in hell.
