Camaro V6 ..a few ????

I am looking at a couple of 94-95 Camaros V6..auto's for my daughter who is heading off to college this fall.
The ones I have seen are about $4300 for a 95 with New tires and new tune up, to a 94 with 75K miles at $4475 .
Just wanted to know what's a good price range for 94-96's and aprx fuel mileage I can expect she will be getting? I would like to find one with t-tops and AC. They run OK on Mid-premium gas?
Any prominant issues with the V-6's or anomlies with this years range?

THANKS

I've got a 95 3.4l camaro and have had it since I was 19, I'm now 27. Never had any major issues and it gets pretty descent mileage and I have thrashed it pretty hard. Plus, your daughter will love the t-tops!

Buddy I live in WV just like you and I know you can get V6 Camaros, especially of the years you're listing for a hell of a lot cheaper than that. Those prices are Z28 prices around here, maybe you aren't looking at the right places. PM me and I'll hook you up with the connections for good deals around here.

To answer your other questions, yeah I had a 94, it's listed in my sig, that got 28 mpg after I had the cat cut off. The 3.4L in the 94 is pretty stout, I beat on it constantly (it was my first car so it received a lot of hell), and it never even stumbled. You can run 87 in these cars.

You can probably find a 95 with the 3.8L V6. I'm not sure on the mileage you'd get with that but it's got 40 more hp than the 3.4L. My mom has that in her car and I'm not really impressed with it.

After driving both a 3.4 and 3.8, go with the 3.8. More power and better gas mileage (both with 87). Some people have fuel sipping 3.4s and some have gas hog 3.4s, mine was a hog and I got 19-20 MPG but the 3.8 I am driving now gets me 23-24 MPG consistently (auto convertible with the top down a lot ). Only known info is that the 3.8s tend to experience real main seal leaks after a while.

Those prices do seem a little high but when everyone is saying "Z28" prices, are they LT1s that have been beaten or are they in good condition? And just because someone knows "one" guy that is selling his LT1 for dirt cheap doesn't mean everyone is.

Those are Z28 prices around here, there's usually 2 or 3 Z28's in the paper for 4K every week around here, not beaten on ones either. You can buy a beaten on one for 1.5K around here.

I've hear of ~30 MPG on the highway for a 3.4L car and the 3.8L has better tuning from the factory, so that engine should get that kind of mileage as well.

A 95 car with a 3.8L will only be a KKKalifornia car, so don't bother looking for one unless it migrated out of state. The 3.8L's are all OBD2 cars, so a tad bit pricier to work on.

I decided to rebel and will be buying my coworker's 95 3.4L/auto Camaro with T-tops. Book is $4200ish for that model with 97,000ish miles. I will be getting it for about $3,000, since it has a bad driver's PW and PL, bad passenger side mirror, and the intake manifold gasket leak that is starting to sip coolant. Nothing I hadn't known about from research, so I went with it anyway...

Good deal, since I just want an A to B car that I don't have to do headstands to work on...like a 3.8L car or any v8 F-bod.

Actually, they switched from 3.4 to 3.8 mid year in 1995. So not all 95's are 3.4 except for cali's. There's a ton of them running around MI.

only california had 3.8Ls in 95.

as for cars... Look harder for $4500ish, you can get alot of 3.8Ls, possibly even 98+

I'd say go with a 3.8L... more power, etc... the 3.4L is good, but the 3.4L in 5th gens is a bastard car. Diagnosing problems are a pain in the ***, since its in the obdI-OBDII transition(not obdII but paperclip trick cannot be done to check for codes)

Also like said I have seen mixed results on fuel... I'd say overall my 3.8L was more fuel efficient.(I used to have a 94 3.4L)

other then that its pretty much commone f-body problems.
